Created in 1945 by locals from the Valley, the French Ski School in Meribel has become one of the biggest ski schools in France. With 4 offices conveniently located around the resort (Rond Point, La Chaudanne, Centre and Mottaret), and a variety of different types of lessons for skiing, snowboarding, telemark, cross country skiing, and snow shoe walks, the school caters for the variety of needs of its clients, whether they are French or from abroad.

In the wake of the emerging competition from independent ski schools the ESF has improved their service and reputation radically over recent years. The classes are perhaps a little larger than those of the independent ski school and lessons are not always conducted in fluent English but taking lessons (both private and group) with the ESF is a very viable proposition once again. The smaller ski schools may have the slight edge in terms of service but the ESF is fantastic value for money, well organised, managed and should not be overlooked.
