Luxury Chalets in Meribel

Meribel ski resort guide - France

The finest luxury ski chalets in Meribel

Luxury chalets in Meribel rival any of the finest properties in the Alps. Ever since Colonel Peter Lindsay started promoting Meribel (shortly after WWII) as a destination for British skiers to build private homes in the Alps it has flourished as a luxury chalet style ski resort.

The earliest chalets in the resort were built on the aptly named Routes des Chalets and also the Route de la Renarde which climb the hill behind the tourist office and flank the blue grade Doron piste. On the opposite side of the valley to the resort centre is the modern Dou du Pont estate which is an expanding area for luxury chalets in Meribel. Properties such Taiga Lodge and Chalet Carcajou are fine examples of Meribel's luxury chalet properties.

The main residential area of Mussillon is where most of Meribel's best chalets are found today. Chalet Chez Menor (formerly with Meriski) has been re-modelled completely by its present owner. Chalet Mont Tremblant, one of the most luxurious chalets in Meribel, is another example. The Domaine du Burgin is another exclusive residential area of Meribel situated just below Belevedere and close to the apres ski bars of Folie Douce and the Rond Point (Ronnies). With cheaper land prices developers have built some huge luxury chalets here. A long standing favourite is Chalet Brames (with over 600 square metres of internal space).
