Sauze d'Oulx resort guide - a general overview
Sauze d'Oulx - known by those in the know as Sauze (pronounced sowzey) is located on the western side of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area and linked to the French pistes of Claviere and Montgenèvre. It also links directly with neighbouring Sansicario and Sestriere on the Italian side of the border.
The kinds of skiers who frequent the resort are either second home owners from Turin as well as youngish Brits on a budget. A curious combination that seems to work very well. The attractive old town is a tangle of cobbled streets, while the main part of the resort, close to the slopes, is modern and buzzes with bars adorned with English signs and widescreen sports channels.
It's all good-humoured fun, and Sauze has a vast array of uncrowded slopes that are perfect for cruising, plus a great selection of both open and tree-lined runs which are great for all weather conditions.
The resort has plenty of good restaurants, both off and on the mountain.
