Les Arcs (1600)
Set in the trees immediately above Bourg St Maurice. Offers easy ski access to large area
Arc 1600 resort guide - a general overview
Arc 1600 is the original resort of the area and is situated at the top of the funicular railway that snakes up the mountain from Bourg St Maurice, the rail head town in the valley below. There is little more to Arc 1600 than a series of low-rise apartment blocks containing hundreds of rather small and dated self-catering units. However, at 1600 metres altitude it is low enough to be set within the trees which lend some beauty, and there is in fact a pleasant small-resort friendly atmosphere about the place, which belies its utilitarian purpose-built roots.
The Apocalypse terrain park is still one of the biggest and best in the Alps and is situated just above Arc 1600 with easy access from the accommodation via the Clair Blanc chairlift. There is all manner of rails, tables and kickers with lines to suit all standards. There is also a boarder cross course and half pipe. Kids will love the place!

Restaurants
Les Arcs (1600) Resort Restaurants
There are not many restaurants but there are some good ones. The Chalet de L'Arcelle on the edge of the village has a good atmosphere and a genuinely good menu. The Malouine also gets good reports.
Les Arcs (1600) Mountain Restaurants
Like most large puropse built resorts, there is plenty of choice, though the mountain resaurants in Les Arcs can be quite unremarkable but are fine for a quick spot of lunch on the go and most have great views over the valley from their terraces. If you are after something a bit more flavoursome and charming, then it is best to head towards the lower villages. On the Vallandry side, a short taxi ride will bring you to the Ancolie, a traditional auberge with fantastic food, you will need to book ahead as it is quite small, or towards Le Pre, try the Belliou La Fumee at Pre-St-Esprit, The Ferme or the Aiguille Rouge are all friendly with very good food.
Les Arcs (1600) Apres Ski
In Arc 1600 the best spot is the Bar des Montagnes
Les Arcs (1600) Nightlife
The Abreuvoir with live music and pool is an obvious choice.
