Overview
The Tschuggen Grand in Arosa is a contemporary, family-friendly five-star hotel with an enormous spa and private mountain railway that takes you to the slopes. With six restaurants and really friendly yet professional staff, it's a luxurious yet relaxed mountain retreat.
All the communal spaces are designed in a contemporary manner with ample use of warm tones, spliced with colourful designer furnishings and modern art scattered throughout. The lobby and bar furnishings are designed to mimic the seasons: plush silver sofas for winter; tan Hermès leather and cashmere for autumn; green silk for spring. The overall effect is luxurious yet not too formal.
Bedroom are all modern, spacious, uniquely interior designed, and benefit from spectacular views and sunny balconies. There are also plenty of inter-connecting room options and large family suites.
The hotel's six restaurants offer various dining options. Michelin-starred La Brezza is an intimate space with an inventive tasting menu. The Grand Restaurant is a formal fine-dining affair. La Collina, with its sun terrace, is the ideal spot for lunch, while the Basement is where Local, high-quality food meets grandmother's recipes and a real pinch of passion. Also guests can dine in the Restaurant Alpenblick, a hut in the mountains or in the Restaurant Twist, which is located in the sister property Valsana Hotel.
As far as hotel spas go the Tschuggen Grand has one of the best we have ever seen in an alpine hotel. 5,000-sq ft. and spread over four floors and carved into the mountainside. A series of swimming pools extends outdoors and there's a floor devoted to saunas and steam rooms. Another houses 12 airy treatment rooms, two private couples' spa suites and a hairdresser. Downstairs you'll find a gym, fitness studio, meditation room and cosmetic doctor's surgery. Large sail-like skylights flood the space with light, and it's immaculately maintained.
