Hotel Chalet Du Lys

" The hotel was overall 4 and a half stay in quality. Although overall it was slightly tired in decor (in the rooms etc), the service was great and staff lovely, (just make sure you ask if you need anything, we got bed toppers for example) and the food is amazing. Great breakfast buffet and the evening meal is full four courses. The spa was a hidden gem once we realised it was there in the basement - it was new and extensive. The outdoor pool is a little smaller than the photos suggest but v warm. The hotel is 50 metres to the piste for ski out, and a 10 metres ski off the red piste for ski in convenience. Rooms were large (for our first floor anyway) but no baths in the ones we had. Rooms 101-106 can be noisy as above the restaurant so you can hear the staff cleaning up and the piano player in the evening. Usually quiet by 11pm. We had great weather, the pistes held up pretty well and didn't get too icy until the last day. By the end of the week we had skied every piste multiple times (because there are only a few of them) and the kids were getting bored. It would have been a different situation had we been able to get off piste (we only did a tiny bit as the snow was mostly bulletproof refreeze). With a bit of snow, it's a great option. However, there is nothing for beginners and little for nervous intermediates. Luckily all but one of the crew are happy on reds and blacks. I think this is a better resort for experienced skiers, or those with kids that can do long runs with some steeps. The upside is that as the kids are now ripping at pace, we got lots of long runs. Very few queues - we were told Italy school holidays were the following week which is something to consider. The skiing was good for our week but if it got more crowded it would have been a nightmare given the limited number of pistes - we could see that on the last Saturday it had got really crowded. The other big bonus was how cheap it is for lunch. We really noticed how relatively reasonable the prices were vs France. And better food! "
