Overview
The Monterosa hotel in Alagna is situated in the centre of the village, opposite the Church of St. John the Baptist and just one hundred metres from the gondola station. The hotel was built in 1865 and was recently acquired by new owners, who are renovating the hotel with a new lounge, sauna and a heated ski room, where you can find your warm and dry ski boots in the morning.
The Monterosa has 12 rooms and some apartments, all with en-suite facilities and TV.
The current owners pays particular attention to service and to catering which includes a buffet breakfast and an evening meal with the choice of a local speciality every day. Meals are served in the historic Margherita Room which is preserved in its original style and decor. The dining room is named after Margherita of Savoy, Queen of Italy during the 1880's, who stayed at the hotel during a climbing holiday.
For après-ski and free moments guests are welcome at the Cafe delle Guide which is located on the ground floor, under the hotel entrance.
The Hotel Monterosa is in a great location about 100 metres from the gondola that takes you out of the resort. The rooms are basic but the dining room is palatial. Food is excellent and the owners very friendly and helpful. A great low budget option.
