Overview
The Hotel Sherpa in Val Thorens enjoys spectacular views of the resort and surrounding peaks. It is located at the top of the resort right on the slopes and near to the Peclet shopping centre and the nightlife. It is possible to ski to the hotel but there is a small 20 metre walk to the edge of the piste in the mornings. The Chamberot family ensure superb standards of comfort, service and fine cuisine in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.
There are three separate lounges, one of which has a beautiful fireplace. The rooms are twin/doubles (please specify your preference) and have bath, hairdryer, telephone, satellite TV, safe and balcony and some can take a third bed. Suites are available sleeping 2-4 people, with 2 sofa beds in the lounge and an open-plan twin or double bedroom (again, please specify) at a supplement. Bathrobes are supplied in all rooms. On a half board option, guests will recieve a hot and cold buffet breakfast and excellent five course dinner.
The Sherpa offers exceptional value for money in a resort with a growing number of luxury 4 and 5 star hotels. The bedrooms are a little on the small side, the bathrooms somewhat dated and the spa area nothing special. However, the main sitting room, bar area and dining room are full of alpine character and charm and really set this hotel apart. The service is excellent and the food matches this. Local specialities are served throughout the week and on Friday night the chef cooks a variety of delicious meats on the open fireplace in the middle of the dining room.
