Hotel Goldener Greif

" The standard of accommodation and rooms in the hotel was excellent - The breakfasts were fantastic - The staff all friendly and helpful. We would all stay here again. The location of the hotel is also wonderful. The facilities, such as boot and ski room, steam room etc. are all great. We did not eat an evening meal at the hotel but we thought the restaurant looked very good. Kitzbuhel was outstanding as a resort - Heated seats in the bubbles, covers on the chair lifts for bad weather - all of which we were glad of because it snowed three days while we were there. One day the bubble across the valley was closed due to high winds - But we still had enough runs to do! The bus system is good, which meant a couple of the party could bail out and take the bus home on a bad weather day. Also we planned one day not to be able to ski home in time, to max out our ski time, we finished in Jochberg, easily and relatively cheaply got a mini bus home. All pistes well-groomed well marked and lift opening times clearly displayed. The slopes were quiet and we did not queue. Millionaire's skiing!! The restaurants up the mountain were excellent - A choice of good quality good value food. All pleasantly served. Information on which runs were open was clearly displayed and the lift office was quiet except on the Saturday morning! There are clean nice toilets at the lift station and even at the bottom of chairlifts - so much better than either France or Italy. For the non-skiers - There is a lovely swimming pool, right near the Haukenham lift station - The train into Salzburg for a day visit was easy - and snow shoe-ing readily available. "
