Overview
The 5 star superior Alpine Palace Hotel in Hinterglemm sits just a short walk from the town centre and is 60 metres away from the Reiterkogelbahn lift station. Two pistes finish almost adjacent to the hotel so guests can ski back very close to the hotel's entrance.
All bedrooms have hairdryers, radio, safe, mini-bar, satellite TV and are non-smoking. However, although spacious the bedrooms are more 'comfortable' in rating than 5 star. The modern Austrian design rooms have baths or showers and some have balconies. Those in the 'Original' wing are more simply furnished (at a 3 star standard) whereas the superior designer Austrian twins in the 'New' wing are very spacious with facilities including minibar, balcony and lounge area sleeping up to 4 guests.
The hotel also features a staggering 2,000 square metre alpine wellness centre complete with sauna, steam room, whirlpool, 'relaxation' area and gym.
The Alpine Palace has 5 separate restaurants and dining areas to choose from. The Arte Vinum restaurant, situated in the wine cellar of the hotel currently holds 2 toques and 15 points with the Gault Millau guide. The Gault Millau guide is seen by many food purists as more important than the famous Michelin guide, as the restaurant is judged purely on the quality of the food.
This hotel has a perfect location close to one of the main lifts, the bottom of the piste and resort centre. There is also a large spa area with swimming pool. Although officially a 5 star this hotel has more of a 4 star feel to it. There are several different dining locations in the hotel but we have had reports that the same menu is used in each of them. There is therefore not as much dining choice as one might think.
