There are approximately 9 different ski hire shops in Alpbach from where you can rent skis or snowboards and boots. Some of the outlets are in the village itself, others are next to the main lift stations and a few are actually on the mountain at the mid station level.

Easy online ski hire booking for Alpbach

There is a free resort bus that runs from the village centre to the main lift stations every 10 minutes between 8am and 5pm. The journey to the Wielderbergerhornbahn is 2km and takes just a few minutes. The new Verbindung lift, which links over the mountain ridge to the Auffach-Wildschonau ski area, is a bit further from the village of Alpbach but is equally reachable on the free bus service.

At the main lift stations there are heated lockers for skis & boots or cheaper non heated lockers for skis only. These can be rented for a very modest amount for the week and each take 2 - 3 sets of skis and boots which means one family can share just one locker. Skiers and boarders travel to and from the lift stations on the free bus without the need to carry their equipment. At the end of the day they simply ski down to the lift station, store their skis (and boots) in the rented locker and then jump on the bus back to the main village. No carrying of skis or snowboards, and if they prefer to also store your ski boots in the same locker, no clumping about the village in uncomfortable ski boots.

The two main lift stations in Alpbach are easily connected via the lift and piste network so if you leave your skis overnight in one station but the next day decide to ski the area accessed by the other it's a simple matter of one lift up and a ski down to get to where you need to be.
