Chalet Ferme Du Soleil

La Ferme du Soleil in Le Grand Bornand is a wonderfully authentic alpine property complete with open log fires, comfy sofas, magnificent views and top class service & cooking. The chalet is located on the mountainside (so it truly is ski in ski out) on a sunny north west facing slope - it's the highest chalet in the resort and enjoys late afternoon sun long after the valley floor has been cast in shadow. The many returning guests each year (the property has been under the same family's ownership for 20+ years) love the 'undiscovered' nature of skiing in Le Grand Bornand and the unrivalled ski access.

The ski area, which is shared with La Clusaz, offers 90km of slopes in the local area and well over 200km in the wider Aravis ski domain (all of which is covered under one lift pass).

When you arrive in resort (no later than 4pm) you will need to get dropped off at the Ski Service ski hire shop in Chinaillon village. There you will change into ski gear and pack your luggage into the waiting 4x4 to be taken up to the chalet later in the afternoon. Once dressed and luggage has been deposited guests will then fit themselves out with skis and boots before heading to the nearby chairlift (you need to pay for one ride up locally - it's less than 10 euros). From the top of the chairlift it's only a short and easy ski to the chalet's front door, where your staff will be waiting to greet you. Your luggage will be driven up to the chalet by a member of staff later that afternoon.

If you are a non-skier you will need to get the gondola up the mountain from Le Grand Bornand. From the top of the gondola it's a flat(ish) walk along the snow of 10-15 minutes to the chalet (make sure you wear suitable snow walking shoes or boots). Your luggage can be taken by the rest of the group who are skiing to the chalet and left at the Ski Service ski hire shop for collection by the chalet staff.

The chalet sleeps 12 adults plus two children under 12 years old. The chalet can also accommodate additional infants or small children with cots. The standard set-up is, 4 x double bedrooms, 2 x twins and 1 x bunk room for two children. Other configurations can be arranged so please enquire for more details. Each bedroom has its own contemporary en-suite bathroom. Rooms 5 and 6 form a separate suite of rooms which are accessed from one door from the main chalet. The bathroom is joined to the hallway and each bedroom (twin and bunks) is accessed from either side of the hallway. Although there are no single rooms you can book a double for single use and pay only a very reasonable supplement of £200 for the week. Please note that if you wish to share the chalet with other guests you must book at least 8 people.
