The mountains are certainly no longer purely about gliding through fresh snow, warming yourself with incredible food and drink at the local bars and restaurants and then retiring to your luxury chalet. Many large ski resorts are holding spectacular festivals in the mountains now too, blending music with speeding down the pistes. Here is our guide to the upcoming festivals this season and accommodation to accompany them.
Rise Festival
RISE – Les 2 Alpes
15 – 21 DECEMBER 2018
Rise is our top choice for an early-season festival. Now in its 5th year, its a 6-day party combining music, wellbeing and adventure with a fantastic line-up. But hurry! Tickets are on third release and are currently selling for £259.00/pp. So book quickly, and don't forget to sort out accommodation!
TOMORROWLAND – Alpe d’Huez
9 – 16 MARCH 2019
The huge festival in Belgium has branched out to the winter setting. Tomorrowland is holding its first festival in the snow in Alpe d’Huez. As the festival is already a household name, festival goers are able to enjoy a host of huge acts featuring Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki and more to be announced. So keep informed and subscribe to the waiting list for the next ticket release!
EUROPE’S SNOW PRIDE – Tignes
16 – 23 MARCH 2019
This year’s LGBT festival is taking place in Tignes with a massive amount of events to keep you occupied when not on the pistes. Cabaret shows, huge pool parties, popular international DJ’s all accompanied by the European Gay Ski Week famous apres-ski. Tickets are currently on sale for £333, this includes a five-day lift pass. Prices are set to rise on the first of every month, so book quickly! With Tignes being such a large resort there are plenty of options for luxury accommodation in the area.
Rock the Pistes
ROCK THE PISTES – Portes du Soleil
17 – 23 MARCH 2019
Five free concerts are held daily across the mountains, all you need is a lift pass to get to them. However, with the festival pass, you will gain access to an astounding 35 concerts in the week spanning the 12 surrounding resorts. With the size of Portes du Soleil, there's plenty of choice for accommodation!
SNOWBOXX – Avoriaz
23 – 30 MARCH 2019
Another Portes du Soleil event, this time exclusively set in Avoriaz. Snowboxx attracts huge names like Craig David and Rudimental. However, Snowboxx offers more than just superb music, the festival also has entire stages dedicated to apres, clubbing and wacky activities like human zorb bowling.
