Overview
Alan Ramsay came to Murren from Scotland in 1990 for a ski season as a barman. He never looked back. He later married a Swiss girl, Veronique, and together with their growing family they welcome you to the Hotel Jungfrau.
The hotel has a fantastic position in the resort - next to the Snowsports Ski School, overlooking onto the nursery slopes and situated at the bottom of the Bob Run and Palace Run pistes. This is a real ski-in and ski-out hotel.
There is an a la carte restaurant, The Gruebi, which seats 40 people and has great views of the majestic Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. In addition to the daily menu, the hotel offers a delicious raclette dinner on Wednesday evenings. There is also a smaller more intimate Stubli restaurant, where the hotel can arrange a large table for 20 people if you fancy a special occasion dinner.
At the entrance area of the hotel you will find a spacious lounge with an open fireplace and free Wi-Fi. You will also find a TV and DVD player and at reception you can borrow chess and other board games. For those who prefer to sit and read, there is a small library where you find books in German and English.
Due to its location, the hotel's sun deck has the longest hours of sunshine in the village. It can seat up to 120 people and is a popular meeting point. The hotel bar is also open to residents & non-residents for drinks and socialising before or after dinner. The old cable car Gondel Bar which can be found on the sun deck is a popular après-ski venue.
Lean back, relax and spend a few days of rest in this comfortable and very hospitable three star hotel - a time you will never forget. You are in a car free internationally well-known resort which has kept its typical Swiss mountain village character. Situated way above the valley of Lauterbrunnen and with just 300 inhabitants Murren is a delightful village. The mighty mountains that can be viewed across the valley shine in the first morning light, and in the evening the alpenglow shows the Jungfrau neighbouring mountains in the red light of the setting sun. It is a truly magical place.
Perfect location. Stunning views and simple yet comfortable surroundings. Food is of a good standard.
